The 5 print based packaging we collected were arrange from High class to Low Class decided by each group.
We decided that High class feature were:
Stock quality
Design
Net sophistication
Price of processes
Durability
We agreed generally that Low class features were things such as:
How mass produced a piece of packaging looked even though almost every piece of packaging is mass produced. Garish colours was discussed but decided it was down to the design.
This session was interesting as it highlighted how people perceive every day bits of packaging and what makes them think something is cheap and naff looking. We decided it was down to everyone's individual taste.
The afternoon session was about re-Designing our 5 pieces of packing uses the 5 style of branding and identity we also collected. The task/ challenge was to design 20 different concept for each of the 5 pieces of packaging. 100 different designs in 3 hours.
We all failed to do 100. I think the average was about 10-15. Underneath you can see some of the ideas I came up with.
This task was to get us thinking like a designer again and I think it did make me wake up a bit!
